I finally got a chance to head down to Miami for Art Basel this year with my Fresh Collective bro-skis, Mimik and Chek. After seeing all the great work being down there over the past few years, I had to go check it out for myself. I actually didn’t even attend the real Art Basel exhibit, but spent lots of time over in the Wynwood section checking out all of the walls and galleries. That whole neighborhood is super, crazy, insane! Just driving through got me amped up to start painting! Tons of really dope walls got done over that weekend from some of my favorite artists and even came across some dope work by native Jersey writers like the Element Tree team and Rain VS. You can see their work and more in the gallery below… Mimik and myself planned on squeezing in as many walls as we could over four days, and were lucky enough to get down at a few different spots. Day one we got right off the plane and headed straight for the first spot which was the Purvis Young Studio Gallery in Wynwood. We hooked up with Wies and a bunch of other writers from GPK crew who were painting a pretty big wall on the side of the gallery. Here are a few pics from that wall…

The next day, we headed over to Rolling Stock in Fort Lauderdale. Rolling Stock is part of a larger arts district in Fort Lauderdale called Fat Village. After meeting Ryan (the dude behind Rolling Stock), the night before in Wynwood I was pretty amped to check it out and get another wall underway. Mimik and I dropped a little something and painted until it was basically too dark to keep going. We headed back the next morning to put some finishing touches on the wall and flick it when we came across a few dudes shooting a music video. They asked if we wanted to make an impromptu cameo, so we went ahead and added a little Fresh Collective flavor in the background. The video isn’t out yet, but you can check out a behind the scenes look here:

Here are a pics of the wall we painted and a random tire that got thrown in the mix…

The next day, we spent most of the day in Wynwood, just hanging out with some friends, flicking walls and putting some final touches on the Purvis Young Gallery wall. Then we got some Cuban food courtesy of Mimik’s mama and headed over to our last spot at Catalyst in Miami Springs. We hooked up with Mimik’s boy Coler from the DAM crew in Miami and rocked out this wall…

Besides getting down on these few spots, we had plenty of good times checking out shows all over and hanging out in Wynwood, met a bunch of cool people, and enjoyed the warm Miami sun! After a long weekend of painting and partying, it was finally time to head back north to the cold in Jersey. Gotta give a big shout out to everyone who made the trip memorable including Wies and the GPK crew, the staff at Purvis Young Studio Gallery, Ryan at Rolling Stock, Coler at Catalyst, Mama Mimik for all the home made Cuban food and anyone else I might have missed. Here are a bunch of random pics of some of the people, places and work we came across. Stay tuned for the Fresh Collective Art Basel video coming soon. See you next year, Miami…
